The trio of Shimshal Pass, Shpodin Pass, and Chafchingol Pass offers one of the most beautiful and remote high-altitude trekking experiences in the Karakoram Range. This route combines alpine meadows, glaciers, and rugged passes, while showcasing the rich culture of Shimshal and the dramatic wilderness of unspoiled valleys.
Also known as Shujerab Pass, Shimshal Pass is a high plateau filled with wildflowers and yaks during summer. It’s traditionally used by Shimshalis for grazing and connects the Shimshal Valley to the upper Braldu region.
A lesser-known but majestic glacial pass that requires careful navigation through icy terrain. It lies beyond the Shimshal Pamir and links to remote valleys, offering a deep sense of isolation and adventure.
One of the most demanding trekking passes in the Karakoram, Chafchingol connects Shimshal to the KKH.
This trek is ideal for experienced trekkers and mountaineers seeking a raw, high-altitude adventure through isolated alpine regions.

Expect remote valleys, untouched alpine meadows, and complete detachment from modern life. You’ll be trekking through areas where very few humans pass each year.
You’ll cross three major passes over 4,700 to 5,300 meters, steep ascents/descents, and technical terrain requiring physical fitness and mental stamina.
Breathtaking views of Cones, Dastagil Sar, and vast glaciers. Camp beneath starry skies, surrounded by icy peaks and silence.
Start the trek in Shimshal, where you’ll experience authentic Wakhi culture, hospitality, and traditional mountain lifestyles.
This is not a touristy trek. Expect solitude, serenity, and deep connection with nature. You may go days without seeing another group.
You’ll be part of a close-knit team, working together with porters, guides, and fellow trekkers. The experience is as much about human connection as it is about nature.
